Lincoln the World Traveller

Hi, my name is Lincoln and I’m 8 years old.  I was in Year 4 at Green Bay School in Auckland, New Zealand, but now I have finished at this school and my family and I are going to travel around the world. I had my last day at school on Thursday and I felt sad and happy.

I felt sad because it meant I couldn’t see my friends again for a long time and I felt happy because I am going on a world travelling trip with my family.  On my last day at school I got a pokédex that my class had made (I really, really like Pokémon) and inside there were photos of my class, a message from my teacher Josh, Pokémon badges of Charmander and Bulbasaur and pokéballs with messages from everyone. The day before the last day of school, my teacher from last year, Naomi, had everyone from my class secretly go into her classroom to make a pokéball and write me a message. I’m going to take the pokéballs with me when we go travelling and I also got a journal and a special pen from my really good friend, Saul. The pen has a rubber on the end that can rub out the ink of the pen, it’s super cool. I have already started writing in the journal and I will take it with me to write down all the awesome things we see and do while we are visiting a lot of different countries.

The country I’m most looking forward to going to is Japan as I really want to go to the Pokémon Mega Centre and I love eating sushi. I also want to go to an American football game, a basketball game and a baseball game when we are in America and also want to go to a football match somewhere in Europe. My favourite football players are Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. I am also looking forward to visiting different zoos around the world, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, some Toys R Us stores and Monkey Hill.

With all the different foods around the world there are some I really want to eat lots of and some I don’t even want to try.

Foods I want to eat –

  • Squid anywhere and everywhere
  • Sushi in Japan
  • Yum Char in China
  • Chicken feet
  • Donuts
  • Hotdogs & giant pretzels from street vendors in America

Foods I don’t want to eat –

  • Bugs
  • Dog
  • Cat
  • Snails
  • Chicken heads

The things I have packed in my back pack to take around the world are –

  • My handball
  • Magnetic chess & checkers game
  • Boomerang frisbee
  • Travel games
  • Pencil case
  • A few travel books, Pokemon handbook, my journal & diary
  • My digital camera
  • Travel pillow

Even though I will miss my family and seeing my friends, I can still keep in touch with them over the internet and sending postcards, and in 3 weeks time, we will be in Singapore and it will be the first day of our awesome world adventure. Stay tuned for many more blogs and maybe even some vlogs!! (I really want to have a You Tube channel).

  1. How awesome, what an adventure, maybe also canoeing down the grand canyon, Arlington National Cemetary where President Kennedy is interred, if you get to London, visit the Tower and see the crown jewels. 😂

  2. Hi Lincoln. Cool first blog post! I am looking forward to reading about your adventures around the world! It was fun helping your class make your card, every pokemon master needs a stack of pokeballs and ones from friends are the best kind! Be sure to take heaps of pictures and a youtube channel would be awesome! Best wishes for an amazing trip. Naomi
