As our time as a full-time travelling family hits two years we thought it was a good time to review and reflect on Our Awesome World Adventure so far.
After spending one whole year as a full-time travelling family (wahoo!!) and having spent 359 days of this in Southeast Asia, we thought we would look back on the good and the bad.
Hội An was our fourth stop during our Vietnamese adventures and after a 10 hour sleeping bus trip we were immediately struck by how many beautiful lanterns and colourful flags were strung up around the streets.
When family and friends found out we were visiting Pattaya we were warned about the sleazy nature of the city as it is considered one of the main sex tourism areas in Thailand. Since we did not intend to be out hitting the go-go bars and the infamous ‘walking street’ area we didn’t think it would be too much of a concern.
Our stay in Chiang Mai saw us experiencing a range of activities and sights, from bathing with elephants, staying in a treehouse, standing on the highest peak in Thailand, learning Muay Thai and even having a Police Officer trying to extort money from us!! (More on this later)….
After having two short stays in Surat Thani and Koh Samui we were looking forward to settling into a longer stay in Hua Hin for four weeks.
After a pretty relaxed week on Koh Samui, it was time to head back to mainland Thailand and another longer stay in one place. This time we were travelling to the town of Hua Hin (the original ‘seaside resort town’ of Thailand), about 200km (by road) south of Bangkok and right on the coast with a 5-6 km stretch of beach.
