Once the boy’s cousins (Zac & Indi) returned from their holiday in Bali, they had plenty of time to spend with them as they were on a mid-term break from school. So it was perfect timing….
After a fleeting visit through Bangkok in early September we were back to spend just over two weeks here, see some sights and catch up with some more family.
Our stay in Chiang Mai saw us experiencing a range of activities and sights, from bathing with elephants, staying in a treehouse, standing on the highest peak in Thailand, learning Muay Thai and even having a Police Officer trying to extort money from us!! (More on this later)….
After two weeks with Logan’s parents it was time to say ‘goodbye’ as they continued on with their holiday and we returned to our current reality of exploring Chiang Mai further.
Before even leaving New Zealand on ‘Our Awesome World Adventure’, we always knew we were going to visit an elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai.
While Chiang Mai means “New City”, the Old City still retains its moat and a vast amount of the walls that creates its distinctive square centre; this remains the historic and cultural centre of the city however there is plenty more to explore.
After our normal research of travel options, we decided to add an overnight train trip to the mix – the boys were extremely excited to be able to eat and sleep on a train!!
