In San Francisco we wanted to be close to the city centre so we could park the car up and get out on foot. However, finding central accommodation with onsite parking, preferably free, was a little tricky but Logan worked his magic and found us a pretty good spot at Inn on Broadway and we booked through hotels.com. Wherever possible we book direct with the accommodation property but sometimes the booking sites can have the exact same place and room cheaper, so we just use whichever method gives us the best price. We booked a ‘deluxe room’ which had two queen beds and upon check in we were upgraded to a slightly bigger room so we had a little bit more space. However, after finding the Wi-Fi was so weak in this location we were moved the next day, back to the room style we had originally booked.
Our room had a microwave, small refrigerator, TV and heating/cooling unit. The beds were comfortable and bathroom was a good size with a shower over the bath, toilet and vanity. There was a good amount of free parking available and after the initial Wi-Fi issues it was fine once we moved closer to the main office. Apparently there was another router outside our first room but staff didn’t give us these details unfortunately.
There was a Walgreens close by so we often grabbed supplies from here and had a couple of nice meals at the nearby restaurants. The boys also really enjoyed the park just a block and a half away.
- Walgreens – 200m
- Helen Willis Park – 300m
- “Crooked” Lombard Street – 1.1 kms
- Hyde Street Pier – 1.7 km
- Chinatown – 1.7 km
- Golden Gate Park – 5 km
We mostly walked and didn’t find the steep San Fran hills to be that bad really. Down by the piers is very flat. Uber and Lyft were readily available too.
