We choose Coconut Beach on Koh Rong Island as it seemed a lot quieter than the main area of Koh Toch Village and we weren’t disappointed. There are about 6 different accommodation options at Coconut Beach and we opted for Bunnan Bungalows booked via booking.com. After the booking was confirmed we received a nice message from Bunnan with plenty of details and information to assist us before and during our stay, very helpful when visiting an island that is 97% undeveloped.
A short walk from the pier via the beach and we were at Bunnan reception. Easy check in and we were shown to our deluxe double bungalow with balcony. There are a few bungalows as you head up the hill from reception and then the permanent tent sites start. Our bungalow consisted of two large comfortable beds with nice linen and towels, mosquito nets, two pedestal fans, separate bathroom with toiletries and a nice balcony with very comfortable chairs.
Wi-Fi was pretty good in the common areas and we could often get decent signal at our bungalow as well. Bunnan Bungalows provides free filtered water for guests as well as the use of their frisbees, beach balls and beach mats. We also hired some of their snorkelling sets which were just $1 US per day per set.
We didn’t eat often at Bunnan’s restaurant/bar, The Coco Hut, as the staff didn’t seem to interested in providing good service and the food was nice but nothing special. Instead we mostly ate at Nice Beach Bungalow’s restaurant and we also liked Coconut Beach Bungalow’s restaurant further up the beach.
