With just a brief three night stay in Kenting we found a simple, but very pleasant hotel via booking.com – Formost Hotel. Our ‘quadruple room with private bathroom’ was upgraded to a ‘quadruple room with mountain view’ which was great because this meant we had windows and a small balcony. On our balcony there was a filtered water station and the one at reception also had hot water. We had a 20 m² room with two double beds, bedside table, counter top, small refrigerator, wall mounted TV and air conditioning unit. The Wi-Fi was a little patchy. The separate bathroom was small with vanity, toilet and wall mounted shower head. For a short stay the room was comfortable enough and we only had a few interactions with staff but they were always pleasant.
Great location with many convenience stores and eateries close by. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel (& one across the road), many buses stop here including the Kenting Express (from the Kaohsiung International Airport or the THSR Zuoying Station) & the Kenting Shuttle. At night you step outside the hotel and the street is lined with many food, drink & merchandise stalls and carnival games. There are a couple of very nice swimming beaches within an easy walk from the hotel.
- Kenting Beach – 650m
- Little Bay Beach – 650m
- Eluanbi Lighthouse – 8.3km
- Maobitou Park/Cat Rock – 12km
- White Sand Bay/Baisha Beach – 13km
There are plenty of buses travelling around the greater Kenting area, all fares can be easily paid for by using the Taiwan ‘EasyCard’ or ‘iPASS’ card. Otherwise cash fares have to be exact as the drivers don’t carry change. The Kenting Shuttle also has a one or two-day unlimited bus pass that can be purchased.
